How often do you pause long enough to truly listen to what your body is trying to tell you?

Many of us move through life disconnected from our body's signals. We push through exhaustion, ignore tension, dismiss intuition, and overlook the ways stress, grief, trauma, and everyday life impact our nervous system. Over time, our bodies begin speaking louder through fatigue, overwhelm, anxiety, irritability, chronic stress, emotional reactivity, difficulty resting, and a general sense of feeling disconnected from ourselves.

The Wisdom of the Body is an immersive 3-hour workshop designed to help you reconnect with yourself through education, movement, reflection, and spiritual self-care practices.

Drawing from my experience as a Licensed Professional Counselor, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and student of curanderismo, this workshop explores the intersection of nervous system regulation, embodiment, mindfulness, and traditional cleansing practices.

Together, we'll create space to slow down, listen, and learn how to respond to our body's needs with greater awareness and compassion.

During This Workshop We Will Explore:

Understanding the Nervous System

We'll begin with an educational discussion about the nervous system and the ways our bodies respond to stress, overwhelm, trauma, and daily life experiences.

Topics may include:

🌿 Recognizing signs of nervous system dysregulation

🌿 Understanding the body's stress response

🌿 Why rest, movement, and regulation matter

🌿 The connection between physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being

🌿 Learning to recognize and trust the body's cues

Participants will receive educational materials and handouts to support continued learning after the workshop.

Somatic Movement, Yoga & Meditation

Movement has long been used across cultures as a tool for healing, grounding, emotional processing, and spiritual connection.

Together we will engage in a gentle, accessible yoga and somatic movement practice designed to support nervous system regulation and body awareness. No prior yoga experience is necessary.

Our practice will include:

🧘 Gentle movement

🧘 Breathwork

🧘 Mindfulness

🧘 Guided meditation

🧘 Opportunities for reflection and self-inquiry

We may also briefly explore the chakra system as one framework for understanding the relationship between mind, body, and spirit.

Spiritual Self-Care & Self-Limpia Practices

Many traditional healing systems recognize the importance of cleansing and tending not only to the physical body, but also to our energetic and spiritual well-being.

In this portion of the workshop, participants will learn practical self-care practices inspired by curanderismo and folk healing traditions.

Topics will include:

✨ Self-limpias

✨ Barridas using herbs and flowers

✨ Spiritual baths (baños)

✨ Spiritual hygiene practices

✨ Creating intentional and practical rituals for daily life

These practices are offered as complementary self-care tools and are not intended to replace medical or mental health treatment.

Create Your Own Intuitive Ritual Oil

Participants will be guided through the process of creating a personalized ritual oil based on their individual needs, intentions, and intuition.

A variety of carrier oils, herbs, crystals, essential oils, and botanical ingredients will be available as you craft a blend that feels supportive to your current season of life.

Your custom oil will serve as a tangible reminder of the intentions and practices explored throughout the workshop.

Ellen Vallejo Smith, M.Ed., LPC is a Licensed Professional Counselor, trauma-informed yoga teacher, and founder of The Embodied Mariposa. Her work integrates trauma-informed care, nervous system education, somatic practices, mindfulness, and traditional healing approaches to support healing, self-discovery, and connection.

Space is intentionally limited to 12 participants to allow for meaningful discussion, personalized guidance, and an intimate workshop experience.
