About Ellen (She/her)

Ellen is a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Texas, offering virtual psychotherapy services to teens (ages 13+) and adults. She holds a Master of Education in School Counseling with a Certificate in Counseling and Development, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Prior to entering the counseling field, Ellen worked as an elementary school teacher, an experience that continues to shape her compassionate and developmentally informed approach to care.

Ellen’s clinical work is dedicated to supporting survivors of trauma as they reconnect with their bodies, restore a sense of safety, and build sustainable tools for healing. Her approach is integrative and trauma informed, drawing from evidence based modalities such as EMDR, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, somatic interventions, and nervous system education. She believes healing is not solely cognitive, but embodied, and that the mind and body must be addressed together.

Alongside her clinical training, Ellen is a certified Trauma Conscious Yoga Method practitioner and a 300 hour registered yoga teacher. Movement, breath, and body awareness are thoughtfully woven into her work when appropriate, always with consent, choice, and accessibility at the forefront.

Ancestral and Cultural Philosophy

Ellen approaches healing with the understanding that we do not exist in isolation. Our nervous systems, coping patterns, and beliefs are shaped not only by personal experience, but also by family systems, culture, and ancestral history. She views ancestral awareness as a way of honoring where we come from, recognizing inherited strengths and survival strategies, and gently examining patterns that may no longer serve us.

This perspective is held with care and discernment. Ancestral and cultural awareness informs Ellen’s work in a grounded and reflective way, while psychotherapy services remain clinically focused and distinct from spiritual or ritual practices. Clients are never required to engage with ancestral concepts, and these themes are only explored when aligned with a client’s values, identity, and therapeutic goals.

In addition to client work, Ellen has experience creating and delivering trainings and presentations on trauma, mental health, and embodied wellness for organizations and community groups.

Outside of her work, Ellen enjoys slow days at home with her husband and their three pups, Pugsley Lu, Pepe, and Puppy. She is a lifelong learner with a deep commitment to ongoing education, reflection, and growth, both personally and professionally.
